Opal Get Back on the Track

Opal Telecom has agreed to continue their sponsorship in the John Cooper Mini Challenge for 2006. For the last four years, the John Cooper Mini Challenge grid has been graced by an Opal mini team. The team is headed by Mark Drury of Callstream, one of Opal’s partners. Together, we have been able to see the Opal mini compete at top class British (and a world famous Belgium) circuits throughout the years.

For 2006, the season has now gotten underway. At the first meeting in Snetterton, Norfolk, Opal unveiled their new look car, sporting the new logo and a grey finish. The season didn’t get off to the best starts with the Mini Cooper, driven by Mark Drury, suffering a broken piston, and the Cooper “S” Car, driven by Martin Depper, coming home in 5th in both races.

The second meeting of the season came at Brands Hatch, with Mark Drury coming home in 7th and 9th in the two races. Martin and the Cooper “S” finished 4th in the first race and then an impressive 2nd in the final race. The meeting was broadcasted by Sky Sports and worldwide network Motors TV.
